The Very Young
For the purposes of this website and given the ABS data available, our Very Young People include those between the ages of 0 and 9 years. We are able to break this group into children aged between 0 and 4 years and between 5 and 9 years.
Youth
For the purposes of this website and given the ABS data available, our Youth include those between the ages of 10 and 25 years. There are many variations of the definition of youth, this is Mildura Rural City Council’s definition.
Middle Years
Middle years are those people that are not captured in either youth or families. They are either singles living alone, those who are living in a defacto relationship or those who are married but do not have children.
Families
The composition of families is more diverse now than ever. Families may be described as a primary social group; parents and children. There are many variations of this which may include a one or two parent household with children, a step family etc.
Older People
For the purposes of this website, older people are from 60 years of age and older.
